Privacy Policy
ClarksFlight ("the app") is a flight-tracking app for airline crew and travelers, operated by Nicholas Calarco. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with. We keep it plain because we'd want the same.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and an encrypted password (never stored in plain text), through our authentication provider, Supabase, so your account and data sync across the devices you sign in on.
Flight, trip, and profile data
The flights, trips, pairings, reserve days, events, hotels, seats, and notes you enter, paste, or import are stored securely on our backend so they're preserved and available across your devices.
Flight lookup and live tracking
When you look up a flight, or when live tracking is on for a flight you've added, the app sends the relevant flight number, date, and airport information to FlightAware, a third-party flight-data provider, to retrieve schedule, status, and (while a flight is airborne) position information. We never send FlightAware your name, email, or password.
Subscriptions and purchases
Subscriptions and On-Demand Credit purchases are processed directly by the Apple App Store (and Google Play on Android). ClarksFlight never sees or stores your payment card details. Purchase and subscription status (which tier you're on) is managed through RevenueCat so your entitlements stay accurate across devices.
On-Demand, Commuter, and "Send" requests
If you submit an On-Demand Update, a Commuter flight request, or use "Send" to have a pairing added by hand, the details you provide (flight numbers, dates, airports, or a pasted schedule) are sent to and reviewed by a real person to fulfill your request. This human touch is a core part of how these features work.
Live Support and Fear of Flying messages
Messages you send through Live Support or the Fear of Flying feature are stored so a real person can read and reply to them.
Flight history and screenshots you send us
If you email us your flight history (for example via "Have a Flight History Already?" in Settings) or otherwise contact us, anything you send — including attachments and screenshots — is handled like any other email and used only to fulfill your request.
Friends and shared flight data
If you use the Friends feature to connect with another user, relevant flight-status information may become visible to the people you've connected with inside the app. We don't share this outside the connections you create yourself.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications, we store a device push token (from Apple/Google, delivered via Expo) so we can send flight-status updates and Live Support replies. It's used only to deliver notifications you've opted into, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings or your device settings.
Calendar access
If you turn on Export to Calendar, the app creates a dedicated "ClarksFlight" calendar on your device and writes your trip events to it. This uses calendar permission you grant and can revoke anytime in your device settings — we don't see or store your calendar beyond creating the events you asked for.
Technical and diagnostic information
Standard, non-identifiable device and diagnostic information (device type, OS version, crash logs) may be collected automatically through the platform to help us fix bugs and improve stability.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to operate and improve the app: to store and sync your data, retrieve real flight information on your behalf, fulfill On-Demand/Commuter/Send and support requests, process subscriptions, deliver notifications you've opted into, and diagnose technical issues. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it for marketing.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers, each of which processes only the slice of data needed for its part of the service:
- Supabase — account authentication, database, and hosting.
- FlightAware — flight schedule, status, and live position lookups.
- RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management.
- Apple / Google — app distribution, payment processing, and push delivery.
- Expo — push-notification delivery.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely with Supabase, and we use industry-standard measures to protect it from unauthorized access. A limited number of authorized administrators (currently the founder) can access account data to provide support, answer On-Demand/Commuter/Send requests, and resolve account issues.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and flight data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account anytime from Settings > Account > Delete Account, or request deletion by emailing us; deletion requests are processed within 30 days and remove your account and associated flight/trip data from our servers.
Children's privacy
ClarksFlight is built for airline crew and travelers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves; the "Last updated" date above always reflects the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
